A Network of Tutors Changing the World, One Student at a Time!
Hope Tutors has a simple mission: A FREE tutor for every student who wants one.
Our belief that every child who wants a tutor should have one, at no cost, has led us to create the Hope Tutors program where we train interested community members to become powerful mentors who build connection, well-being, and achievement for the students they tutor and mentor - and for themselves.
Studies show that kids who have access to a tutor or mentor have significantly better social, mental and academic outcomes than kids who do not.
Many families cannot afford a tutor, and we believe that cost should not prohibit a child from having someone to listen to their questions and help them find the answers so that they can succeed.
“The relationship you will develop with the child you tutor is the best part of volunteering with Hope Tutors. Not only do you get to share and model things like problem-solving, patience, and persistence, but you also get to learn about the child’s joys and struggles, worries and frustrations. You don’t have to be a genius in a subject to provide the support a child needs. Mostly, you listen to make sure the child understands what they need to do, then help them along as they read, write, or solve a math problem. Simply providing that time and positive support is what makes the difference and builds trust.”
“When asked what I think about Hope Tutors, two words come to mind: opportunity and fulfillment. Hope Tutors gives me an excellent and otherwise unavailable opportunity to support children who need help in ways that I understand. Fulfillment comes from not only helping these young people but also discovering something powerful and positive within myself that I did not know was there.”
